The oldest dog in the shelter has finally found its owners thanks to a video showing its sad life in a cage

Older animals have a harder time finding new homes. Sergeant, a dog with a troubled past, had a string of potential adopters, but even he had no hope of happiness. But thanks to a video posted on TikTok, the dog finally got a second chance.
Sarge arrived at the Orange County Animal Shelter in Orlando, Florida, on 3 July.
The unfortunate seven-year-old dog was very distressed about his new condition. Volunteers were struggling to cope with his depression. Then photographer Albert Harris, who works for the organisation, had an idea.
He set up a camera in Sergeant’s kennel to film his grim daily life.
The video, uploaded to TikTok on Thursday 8 September 2022, shows the distraught dog with the heartbreaking caption: ‘You are the oldest resident, slowly losing hope because you are ignored and you are not the dog people want to adopt’.
The video has touched the public and in a matter of days has gained more than 3 million views.
Sergeant touched so many people that he received adoption requests from all over the United States.
Sergeant was eventually adopted by Christy Ditto and her husband, who fell in love with this sweet dog.
